Student honored in Shanghai for blood drive initiative

The Consulate General of India in Shanghai honored student Arjun Chaturvedi on Ram Navami for leading a large-scale blood donation campaign across schools in the city.
Chaturvedi, a student at Yew Chung International School of Shanghai, was felicitated by Consul General Pratik Mathur in recognition of his leadership and community service.
He recently received the Jim Koerschen Student Award for Leadership and Service Learning Grants from the Association of China and Mongolia International Schools for organizing blood donation drives through Bloodline, a nonprofit focused on community health initiatives.
The campaign is described as the largest voluntary student-led blood donation effort in Shanghai.
Announcing the recognition on X, the Indian mission said Mathur felicitated Chaturvedi to celebrate his achievements and community impact.
The Consulate also highlighted efforts to strengthen educational and cultural ties between India and China.

Mathur met with Andy Clapperton, co-principal of Yew Chung International School, to explore introducing Hindi language learning into the school’s curriculum.
“Hindi teaching, and other #EkBharatShresthaBharat cultural initiatives have become extremely popular in China in recent times,” the Consulate said in its post.

The mission also discussed regional trends in cost-effective health care solutions for the Global South with Ashish Maskay, founder of Bloodline.
India’s growing role in areas such as medical tourism was also highlighted as part of the outreach.
